Our History

A homage to our firm’s roots and how KB&P Financial Partners came to be what it is today.

Mid to late 1950s – Paul Oliver established Paul Oliver & Associates in Springfield, Ohio. Although an insurance agency, the company was on the cutting edge of and specialized in financial planning and the financial planning process.

1967 – James A. Sieffert, a 1963 graduate of the University of Dayton, joined Paul in the practice.

1970 – Paul began working exclusively in the Dayton, Ohio market and Jim took over the Springfield operation, changing the name of the firm to J.A. Sieffert Company. A few years later, Jim began offering investments to compliment the insurance and financial planning platforms.

1977 – Larry J. Baker, a 1971 graduate of Wittenberg University who began his professional career in 1973, joined Jim at J.A. Sieffert Company.

1982 – Larry took over the business when Jim retired and moved to Tennessee and changed the name of the company to Baker Financial Planning that same year.

1997 – Scott W. Krizner, who entered the profession after graduating from the University of Cincinnati in June 1988, joined forces with Larry at Baker Financial Planning.

2006 – Larry and Scott formalized their partnership and began operating as Baker Krizner Financial Planning.

2009 – Andrew D. Barlow, a March 2009 graduate of Wright State University, joined the practice in October.

2010 – Larry’s retirement became official on June 3 upon the sale of the practice to Scott; also in June, Eric L. J. Powell graduted from The Ohio State University and joined the Baker Krizner team that same month.

2017 – Scott announced Andy and Eric as partners in December and a plan to change the name of the firm to KB&P Financial Partners was put into motion.

2018 – The name change to KB&P Financial Partners became effective in May. The firm now boasts its most decorated line-up of advisors in its proud 60+ year history with one Chartered Financial Consultant and two Certified Financial Planners.
